(160 Avis)
I booked a car very last minute yesterday as we were at the Bayonne train station. I often use sixt when travelling. On their web site they list a sixt agency at the train station called ‘Bayonne train station’ on place Perreire, so i booked a car there. However i couldn’t find any Sixt around the train station at the listed address. i found out through sncf customer service that they do not have any such agency but rather someone will pick you up from ‘Sixt Bayonne’ if you call them. The phone number offered in reservation is a special french phone number that charge you extra per minute and usually is for reservation so i hanged up. After s google search i got their local 05 phone. However no one picked up, so i had to leave a VM. Next day, I am still waiting for their call back. Luckily i had a cancelable booking and Avis located across the train station had cars available so i rebooked with them. Ended up costing me half the price for 2 category above.
Using a virtual agency is very misleading especially when it is not clearly documented with a clear way to communicate. I speack french and had s local phone number which helped a lot to change quickly strategy but it could have been a lot more awful experience otherwise. I am very disappointed by this experience and reconsider using sixt in the future...
